Cobo Center:   A New Center Rising

Michigan’s World Class meeting and convention facility.

Owned by the Detroit Regional Convention and Facility Authority and operated by SMG, the 2.4 million square foot complex, located on the bank of the Detroit River, is the centerpiece of downtown Detroit’s Civic Center.

Cobo Center offers convenience, comfort, service reliability and fine food. Overlooking the Detroit River and our international neighbor, Windsor Canada, our elegant banquet rooms and over 70 meeting rooms totaling 178,446 square feet equip Cobo Center to accommodate capacities from 30 to 10,000.

Cobo Center also boasts one of the largest contiguous exhibit floor spaces in North America.

Cobo and Detroit People Mover

Cobo is physically linked to all downtown Detroit hotels and entertainment districts by the Detroit People Mover, Detroit’s elevated railway system, and a station on the third floor of Cobo Center.

Proven Track Record

Cobo Center has a proven track record of handling international events like the International G-7 Job Summit, the annual North American International Auto Show, the annual Society of Automotive Engineers International Congress, and frequent national events, i.e. visits by the President, the Vice President and foreign heads of state. Cobo’s Staff is well versed in the cultural and diplomatic sensitivities involved in an international event.

Management Team

The management team of Cobo Center works cooperatively with City of Detroit departments such as Transportation, Parking, Police, Airport, County, State and Federal agencies, Detroit’s corporate community, and the Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau to ensure the success of events at our facility.

Custom Transportation Planning

In addition, for large conventions requiring more than the committable number of downtown area hotel rooms; Cobo Center will work with your convention to develop a shuttle transportation plan.
