The General Information material is given as general guidelines for all those considering any use of Cobo Conference/Exhibition Center. These guidelines are provided to assist you in planning your events. Should you have any questions or circumstances not covered within these guidelines please contact our sales division so that we may assist you.

SERVICES

Events Services:
Events Services division should be contacted for assistance and information when preparing for your convention/meetings/meals at Cobo Center. Prior to your arrival, an Event Coordinator will be assigned to work with you. The Event Services Division may be reached at (3l3) 877-8777.

Food and Beverage Services:
Food and Beverage Services must be provided by Aramark Corporation, the exclusive caterer for Cobo Center. The arrangement of the room, i.e., tables, chairs, speaker's platform, etc., will be handled by the Event Services office of Cobo Center while menu and serving arrangements are provided by the caterer. Catered events must utilize a minimum of 50% of assigned room meal capacity as determined by the Cobo Center. Our caterer may be reached at (3l3) 567-1512.

Water Service:
If water is required in the meeting rooms, it must be ordered in advance through the catering office. There is no charge for water ordered for speaker's tables or a centrally located water station.

Scheduled Room Use:
A listing of all rooms to be used each day, with type of function (meeting, luncheon, office, etc.) and times to be used should be sent to your Event Coordinator eight (8) weeks in advance of the function.

Security:
In certain areas used by Permittee, i.e., offices and equipment storage rooms, it is advisable for your security and convenience to change the locks of these rooms from the general house system to a special security series. There is a one-time charge of $20.00 per room for this service. This service must be ordered from your Event Coordinator three weeks prior to the start of your move-in. Security guards are hired from private firms at Permittee's expense. Under certain conditions Cobo Center may require that you hire private security.

AUDIO/VISUAL

Microphones:
Microphones can be installed in meeting rooms that have built-in sound systems and all Exhibit Halls. There is a $25.00 charge for each microphone, per day. A maximum of five (5) microphones may be rented from Cobo Center. If more are needed they must be rented from an Audio Visual Contractor.

Projection Equipment:
Cobo Center does not have projection equipment available. You may either bring your own projector and screen or rent them from an outside source. If you provide your own, please bring sufficient UL approved extension cords. Hired labor must be union workers. Union projectionists must be used in the Exhibit Halls, Riverview Ballroom W1-51/52, and Ambassador Dining Room W2-60.

Union Labor:
Union Labor is required for audio and video activities when extensive use is made of sound, light, spotlights, recording or broadcasting equipment. Hired labor must be union labor. To avoid problems, please inform your Event Coordinator of all aspects of your program.

EXHIBITS/SIGNAGE

Table Top Exhibits:
Table Top Exhibits are permitted during small private events to display material in meeting rooms without the use of a show contractor. These displays usually use the building's tables. Display space is restricted to the top of one 30" x 8' table surface and one rolling rack. The caterer or exhibitor may top and/or skirt the table with a flame retardant table cover using clips. No staples or tape may be used. No labor is available to assist the exhibitors in the setting up or movement of their display materials, and materials brought are to be such that no help is needed. These materials are to be hand carried by one person in one trip without the use of a hand cart. One rolling rack of clothing may be included in the solitary trip allowance. In erecting the display, the use of tools is prohibited. Only entrance doors on the River Level, the southeast entrance doors on the First floor, and entrances from building garages are to be used. Exhibitor electrical needs must be discussed in advance with your Event Coordinator.

Your organization is responsible for the adherence of these regulations and must remove any exhibitor who does not comply. All aspects of the event must be thoroughly discussed with your Event Coordinator.

Transporting Materials:
Cobo Center personnel transport and set up building-owned equipment only. If you will be bringing equipment such as file cabinets, boxes, displays, other materials that you cannot hand carry, or erecting displays, you must hire the labor from a show contractor to transport these items within the building. You may hand carry in items in one trip without the aid of material handling equipment. All shipments should be timed to arrive on your day of move-in or on the event day. Cobo Center does not have warehouse facilities.

Exhibits:
Exhibits for conventions, trade shows, commercial events and public shows are handled through privately hired show contractors. For further information, refer to Exhibit and Exhibit Hall Guidelines.

Directional Signage:
It is strongly recommended that signs be provided inside Cobo Center to direct attendees. Cobo Center will assist by providing event directories at several locations throughout the center. Consult your Event Coordinator as to the number of signs you will need and recommendations for placement. Signs, banners, or posters may not be taped, nailed, or fastened to the Building walls.

Stickers:
Distribution of stickers is prohibited.
